Cairns considered the gateway to Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, is a city in tropical North Queensland.
It’s easy to fly right into the heart of Tropical North Queensland. A number of domestic and international airlines service Cairns Airport including Qantas, Virgin Australia, Jetstar, Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines, Air Niugini and Regional Express, as well as local airlines Skytrans, Alliance Airlines and Air North. Direct flights arrive from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and Darwin, plus a number of major regional centres. It won’t take you long to get here – most domestic flights are only two to three hours. International destinations include Auckland, Port Moresby, Tokyo, Osaka, Bali and Singapore. From here, you can connect with almost anywhere in the world.
Cairns Esplanade, lined with bars and restaurants, has a saltwater swimming lagoon. Northwest of the city, Daintree National Park spans mountainous rainforest, gorges, and beaches.
Canopy’s Edge is just a short drive North of Cairns CBD and Cairns International Airport. The famous Northern Beaches are just minutes away and the heart of the Northern Beaches shopping district – Smithfield Shopping Centre is less than a km away.
